The vast quantities of paint which is normally supplied in 20ltr (5gal) pails as this has been the traditional method of handling and mixing for use at the point of application with standard airless spray equipment.

Large quantities of waste is produced in empty cans, lids, residue material both mixed and un-mixed and solvent for cleaning equipment.

The combined effect of this waste produces a disposal problem and recycling is an expensive and time consuming operation. Equipment requirements produce high service costs and replacement cycles.

CoverCat have helped to introduce a new process to high volume paint application in the form of Bulk Supply Coatings and Equipment. The paint is provided in large containers typically 200ltr (55gal) drums or 1000ltr (250gal) containers, both of which can be cleaned or recycled quite easily.

The equipment takes A & B component materials directly from the drums and meters and mixes the product at the correct ratio. Materials are heated to reduce viscosity and can be sprayed from multiple line and gun combinations of up to 6 sprayers for each machine.

The combined effect reduces handling and waste and provides high production application with minimal delay and accurately mixed product is provided consistently through the entire operation.

Financial savings are proven and additional benefit to the environment is a bonus.

Petrochemical

Petrochemical markets demand high performance coating application in many locations in both on-shore and off-shore installations.

Heavy Duty coatings are applied to external structures providing long term anti-corrosion protection. Many of these coatings require specialist application equipment in the case high solids and solvent free materials.

Process equipment for example internal surfaces of vessels & pipe work require extremely specialised coatings which normally require heated plural component application equipment.

Fire protection is a major concern throughout the industry and this is provided by intumescent coatings which provide a thermal barrier to structural steel and other risk areas. These coatings are known as Passive Fire Protection (PFP) as they slow the damaging and dangerous effects of the fire but do not prevent or suppress fire. Modern high performance epoxy materials are used to provide reinforced fire protection in hazardous locations with long term benefit not available with cementitious materials.

The use of CoverCat PFP Application equipment is widely used in the industry.

We are experienced in the manufacture of automatic and semi-automatic pipe coating equipment principally for internal application of High Solids and Solvent Free Coatings in a wide range of environments.

Internal pipe coating booms in factory applications are available up to 18m (55ft) in length and 3m (9ft) diameter.  Trailer mounted in-situ lining equipment for internal coating of pipelines up to 250m (775ft) is commonly used in the water and waste water industry for relining and rehabilitation of existing pipelines.

Plural Component Equipment is typically used where rapid cure and solvent free coatings are to be applied. A coating with pot life when mixed of less than 15minutes generally requires Plural Component Equipment Application and even coatings of longer pot life can benefit from these systems due to better spray performance and reductions in waste and cleaning requirements.

When using Plural Component Equipment materials are mixed only as required in the system and just prior to the spray gun. In this case component materials in the system remain un-mixed and maybe left for extended periods without any effects.

Flushing of the mix portion of the system requires only minimal solvents and therefore provides significant savings to the applicator in waste handling and service.

A choice of equipment based around 450, 350 and 300 Air Motor Units, providing a wide range of equipment options and mix ratio choice.
